The vicious circle begins with an event that can be a change in life. If the event activates negative thoughts that in turn activates worry or frustration, you become stressed and start to clench your teeth/tongue. Pressing activates a physical state of tension that eventually result in symptoms such as vertigo (dizziness), tinnitus and pain. The symptoms create anxiety and more stress, which in turn amplifies the state of excitement your body is already in and the symptoms themselves will manifest themselves stronger. This cycle will continue for as long as you are unaware of the fact that the behavior of clenching and pressing is causing the symptoms.
